I provide individual therapy to adolescents (ages 14+) and adults. I typically see clients on a weekly basis for 50 minute sessions, although alternative arrangements can be made to suit your needs.

Openings for new clients are now available!

Call or email to schedule an appointment. I am happy to provide a free 15 minute phone consultation if you are interested in learning more about my services.

Initial Clinical Therapy Intake Session (in office):

80 minutes- $150

I prefer to schedule extra time for our first session together. This ensures that we have sufficient time to review paperwork, discuss what brings you to therapy and to get to know one another. It is important that you are able to make sure I am the best fit for you and that I understand what you are most hoping to change or gain with therapy. It's normal to feel a little nervous about that first appointment. Most often, my clients feel comfortable by the end of that session and look forward to their next appointment. If you decide that another therapist will better suit your needs, I am happy to provide referrals for trusted colleagues.

Because sometimes hay bales are way more comfortable than office chairs...

For some, going to a traditional office for counseling can be a barrier to reaching out for help.  A part of you may buy into the social stigma that "something is wrong with me" if you pursue therapy or you may have feelings of shame that you are reaching out for support. While this is certainly not everyone's experience, some clients find that taking a less traditional approach to therapy makes reaching out for support easier. As an option,  I offer sessions at a nearby farm/ranch for my clients. Sessions at the ranch are individualized to your needs and preferences. It can include anything from processing tough material while  sitting on hay bales to grooming a horse during the session.  Sometimes just walking around the property while talking can make the therapy process feel less intimidating. Being at the ranch engages all of your senses and allows for more experiential activities to enrich your therapy process. I have found that adolescents and first responders tend to prefer this option, although all of us can benefit from "farm therapy".  The ranch is located 11 miles south of my Brentwood office.

Equine Assisted EMDR at Ranch or in Office

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy is a comprehensive, 8-phase protocol (click here to read more and to better understand what an EMDR Therapy session is like). Whether utilizing EMDR Therapy in office or with the horses, this protocol guides the process. I will ensure that you understand which phase we are in and why. EMDR is a research and evidence based therapy and is a treatment of choice for trauma. The basic premise of EMDR is that when an individual experiences trauma or disturbing life events, the thoughts, emotions, sensations and beliefs at the time, get "locked" in the nervous system and remain unprocessed. Through the eight treatment phases of EMDR, the memory networks where the "old stuff" is stored, gets accessed and released. EMDR activates the nervous system's natural healing mechanism, to reprocess and, literally, re-wire the brain. If you've experienced trauma or disturbing events, you don't have to keep being "hijacked" by your body as if the events are still happening (flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, anger, anxiety, etc.). This modality helps you process and release the past, enabling you to live fully present in the here-and-now.

My in-office hours in Brentwood are 8:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. on Mondays. Sessions at the ranch location are scheduled throughout the remainder of the week. Late afternoon and evening sessions are available.

Throughout the course of therapy you may choose to have sessions either in the office, at the ranch with the horses, or some combination of both. As this process is collaborative in nature, we can talk about those options together.

I am not a member of any health insurance plans or panels, meaning that I do not collect co-pays or bill insurance companies for reimbursement of services provided.  Although I am not an in-network provider, I will provide you with any documentation that you need  (a super bill) to file for out-of-network reimbursement. My NPI # is 1841519568. Many clients prefer not to use insurance due to privacy concerns, the limitations of working with formal diagnoses, limits placed on number of sessions and types of treatment, and potential impact on permanent health records. If you prefer to bill your insurance company to defer the cost of counseling, I will be happy to provide referrals for insurance providers.

Modalities I utilize as appropriate for each client:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy  (TF-CBT)
Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC)
Motivational Interviewing
Equine Assisted Learning
Equine Assisted EMDR (EquiLateral)
